Tag of the Bloggerville!

My First Tag, from a wonderful poetess, Divya…. And I am overwhelmed!! Thanks Divya.
So here goes………..
8 Things I am most passionate about/ love most
I actually am passionate about quite a few things. Passionate is a strong word, and its “8 Things I love Most” seem to fit into my bill!
My Sony Ericsson W580i phone. This is one Device you will never see me even dead without.
Animals. My lifelong awe of pets and wild animals and nature, is one of the driving forces for my blog.
Food!. Yes. I’m a foodaholic. I just love food. But my mom never lets me get anywhere near a kitchen if (and when) I feel the urge to prepare some for myself.(unless its top ramen or curry!)
My Linux Fixation. I love programming in Linux. It helps me de-stress. Linux has been one of my greatest passions. My favorite Linux OS is Sabayon Linux 3.3(based on gentoo)
My Poetry. I started poetry when I was in 5th standard. Though I lost touch after 10th grade, I recently decided to pursue it once more.
Digit. This magazine has been my bible since 2004. Can’t live without my monthly dose of Technology!!!
Books. There are some things that just can’t be ignored. For me, books were the windows to the outside world for a long, long time. I owe my vocabulary and conversational skills to these awesome portals of learning.
Chess. I love this battle of the minds

8 things I wanna do before I die (omg!)
This is more like a wish list, and a passionate one at that. If given a chance, I would love to carry out these desires of mine!
  • Meet Prof. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
  • Meet Madonna
  • Kick Charles Sobhraj in the Shins
  • Try out Paragliding
  • Try to get into ISRO
  • Have a game of chess with Vishwanathan Anand
  • Visit the Pyramids
  • Get into the cockpit of the Airbus A380!
8 THINGS I OFTEN SAY…
That’s hard! I could not remember a single thing!!! Oh wait. . . . There are a few words that I usually use…
  • “Obviously” – well, obviously!!
  • “Hey! Earth to !” - if the particular friend has lost his trail of thoughts and has already reached mars searching for it!
  • Many of my sentences start with “hey guys…. Listen Up!....”! coz most seem to think my ideas are a load of crap!
  • “Are you usually this dumb or is this a special attempt today?” - This one goes along with a choice of my “gaalis” to the “Innocent schnook of the day”
  • I’m so sorry, but there is this (“unparliamentary”) F*** word which I end up adding in a lot of permutations and combinations, when I’m supremely pissed off. The string usually goes off like : ” Where in the f****ng wide world is my f****ng memory card? I need the f****ng memory card to avoid F*****ng up my entire f****ng Presentation..…“ Well, You get my idea!!
  • “This is Bloody awesome!!” - even when it sometimes is not. (I hav to keep my friend’s spirits up right?)
  • “Has anyone seen my Bluetooth dongle?” Coz I do seem to keep losing it now and then, like playing peek-a-boo with it. :-(
  • “Oh Crap! I exhausted my currency in my prepaid account again!! Woe is me!!” Believe me, This happens very, very frequently.
8 BOOKS I LAST READ
When I say “read”, I mean “Read-AND-loved-AND-completed-the-book-without-losing-interest”. Not many books come under that category, but lemme see. . . .
  • A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawkings One of my most favorite and most revered Idols of modern science (and Nobel winner); this one is every budding (and experienced) Astrophysicist’s Bible.
  • The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho One hell of a classic work. You just have to read it to understand Why its Number 2 on the list.
  • Wings of fire by A.P.J. Abdul Kalam The book written by our former president, is a must read for EVERY person who calls himself an INDIAN.
  • The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy By J.R.R. Tolkien Ultimate fiction classic. There are cult followings for this epic series. You are missing out on something too good if you are letting this book pass……
  • The Afghan by Frederick Forsyth This is one of the best action novels I’ve read. Few can come up to its level.
  • Angels and demons by Dan Brown The Controversial Author Strikes again! This is a prequel to the book that shattered the Christian world( For you morons who don’t know, the book I’m referring to is The Da Vinci Code).
  • Eragon By Christopher Paolini This includes the next volume of the continuing series, called “Eldest”
  • The Harry potter series By Joanne K. Rowling
  • No booklist is complete without the seven book blockbuster legacy of J.KR
8 songs I love (Sigh!)
I love these songs. Just can’t get enough of them. To me, these are the songs that keep floating around in your head all day long even if you Half-heard them only once over your morning coffee and Times of India, that too coming from your brother’s/sister’s iPod…… You get my drift, don’t you?
Anyways, here they are!
Do note that they are not placed in any order of preference, as I just love ALL of them, and can’t decide which one’s the best.
  • Unforgivable Sinner by Lene Marlin A beautiful song from one of my favorite female singers. It makes me sober up and think, every time I hear this song.
  • Trouble Nobody by Akon One groovy song from my favorite rapper. Nothing Beats you Akon! I love his other songs too, but this one rules the roost!
  • I Can’t Stop by Will Smith This One has a Spanish – salsa groove mix backdrop, which I just can’t seem to get enough of; Ever! Makes me really wanna dance!
  • The Party Starter by Will Smith One Kick-ass song! This one took the crown forcibly from my previous favorite song (viz. Yeah! By Usher)
  • In the End by Linkin Park This one was the first English song I ever liked. And it seems to relate so well with my life, that I don’t think it’s ever going to step down from the pedestal!
  • The “Bear” Necessities by Phil Harris This song is the closest to my heart. Taken from the old movie :”The Jungle Book”(1987) , made by Walt Disney, based on the book written by Rudyard Kipling. I am sure you guys have not forgotten “Mowgli”, the little thin jungle bred boy!!
  • Hey Mr. Tambourine man by Bob Dylan. This one is a nice song, but it has a hidden meaning, and is so well versed and intricate, that I fell in love with the song. Try it once you guys, and tell me if you understand the hidden meaning!
Another Brick in the Wall by The Pink Floyd One classic song. You just have to listen to this ageless classic song. None can ever reach the zenith The Pink Floyd reached.
I love many other songs, as much as those mentioned above, Like those by Madonna(4 Minutes, Heartbeat, Die Another Day…etc), Enrique Iglesias (Ring My bells, Don’t turn off the lights, Rhythm Divine, Bailamos), Avril Lavigne(Girlfriend, Sk8ter Boy, I’m With you, etc), Elena(Before I Sleep), Sting(Desert Rose{with Cheb Mami}, Thousand Years, etc)et cetra.
But Since I have only 8 slots to fill, I gotta give them some space! some place!!

AND NOW, I Tag!!
  • Nandhini (Nan, You are now officially tagged!)
  • Arun P.K. (I wanna know more about the man behind the timbucktoo blog!)
  • Ayushi (i really want to see your answers!)
  • Winnie the poohi (Where are you???)

Through His Eyes ........

Life is sometimes, so very bare
It manages to touch the depths of sorrow
My time is up; no one seems to care
Is there no more I can borrow?

When I was young, you loved me too
Your weakness was I; your darling new,
You bonded with me, and I, with you
Best of my life; those days so few….

And when I saw, as I grew old
Your love for me grew lesser and cold
It finally struck me at my heart
That you had plans to end my start

I howled, “Why do you want to kill me?
Was I not loyal enough?”
Your resolve at best has chilled me…
How have you grown so tough?

I guarded your life Night and day.
I kept the prowlers forever at bay
I loved you more than myself, I can say
And yet you abandon me in such a way?

And now I lie, in this mangy cage
My Heart is broken and my mind is enraged
You left me here with people deranged
To face the death, that you have arranged…

And now, they come to seal my fate
They bring me meat which killed my mates
They have thrown it down, into my cage
They look at me; My death awaits…

I know it’s you!

Whenever I see your darling eyes,
My heart begins to fantasize

My thoughts go on an overdrive,
Inside my mind I do a jive!

A rush of blood gets to my cheeks,
My voice just comes out in a squeak

My heart beats at a faster rate,
I just can’t stop; it’s now too late!

My face betrays my love for you,
Like a mirror; sure and true

And then I see your knowing smile,
I skip a beat; I know you’re mine!

At long last now, the truth is out,
My soul’s up high; I want to shout

My search now ends; I’m through and through,
I’ve found my love; I know it’s you!

The Kiss of Life

I see into her eyes so green and hair such lovely gold
My heart is weak and pulse at speed my mind wants to be bold

Dancing round and round the wind makes merry of her hair
It flails around her pretty face but she seems not to care

This is my Irish dream so true so lovely and so fair
She holds abreast a book of love, a kiss of life to share!

Her eyes say words of charming grace, so calm they make me feel,
They have a gift; a charming grant, my heart they truly heal,

She’s with me now, it feels so sweet I feel so loved once more,
It’s worth the wait; it’s worth the haste that love's labor did bore!

By My Side….

Sometimes I look at the distant seas
And distant shores of York,
I feel a searing pain at heart
When I think of what I lost

Whenever I see that yonder moor,
You it reminds me of
I know I said I loved you not
But it’s you I am dreaming of

I dreamt of love; it’s you I found
Your gentle touch so new
The feelings felt by my tiny heart
Were surreal; so true

I loved you so, more than my life,
I found you loved me too
And Oh! My heart just knew no strife
Just like being born anew

It was then that God just slashed my hopes
And ripped my dreams away,
It’s then I found, my life undone
I was not meant to stay

I was not meant to live my life,
As long as others would,
I cried out loud, it hit my heart
And then I thought of you

I kept away, I neared you not
Neither let you through
Your calls I saw but I answered not,
Forgive me moments few

And finally the day had come
The time to say goodbye
Never in my dreams had I felt so low
When I just made you cry

I meant to keep you in the dark
‘bout my fate so sealed,
I was so scared ‘bout how you’d feel
To know my wounds won’t heal

I know I lied; said I loved you not,
And now you know it too
Your Love is all I ever sought
And now you know it’s true

Countless thoughts soared through my heart
They pierced it through and through
The guilt stayed still, love’s labor lost
I knew it was too crude

You said to me, you loved me so,
You’d never leave my side
“We’ll live the moments you have left”
We’ll stand the test of time

And now I see you by my side
You hold my hand in yours
My moments last are Oh! So few
But look! The time has stopped .

Without You I Am . .

A silent world
A godless land
An empire reduced to sand
A sleepless night
A life of plight
A broken stone in the path of light
A prayer unheard
A treasure unfound
A scimitar held by a soul unbound
A broken heart
A dried up bank
A soul less heart of a thankless man
A torn up plant
The edges chipped
A sightless bird with wings so clipped
A man long dead
A love long lost
A lonely flame in a sea of frost

A Tryst With Perception

I dedicate this one to a friend who is also a good poet himself. He is the reason and the catalyst who made my Blog a possibility. I cant thank him enough.

Every now and then, in dreams
In dreams Oh, so serene,
I envision a scene
A scene unlike a dream
A scene which pulls my heartstrings,
My senses it defeates,
My lonely heart it captures,
My mind it sweeps so clean
I spy a kindly face
A face of charming grace
It speaks to my soul in ernest
My heart begins to race,
My will just lies asleep,
I know not why i weep
And then a hand i see
Wipes my tears for me
Suddenly, my heart, I perceive
To sorrow it pays no heed,
My tears were long gone too
Like birds they all just flew
The happiness came back,
With the face I loved but lacked
My soul felt so at peace,
I thanked Him for this lease.
My friend is now my guide
It's him I meant to please.

My Inspiration

This one goes out to a very special friend and mentor.

Sometimes i sat and wondered,
'bout where it all began,
Why in life i faltered,
And just got up again....

Why the beads of sorrow,
Decorated me,
Why was I so harrowed,
And yet so purely free

My quest brought me some answers
Much truthfull were they all,
The emptiness of my words,
Were the reason for my fall.....

My promises lay shattered,
Were the remnants of the past,
My words, though so ambitious,
Were just not meant to last.....

And then came inspiration,
A golden ray of hope,
He showed me perspiration,
And taught me how to cope.....

He got me back on my feet,
For i was on my knees,
Yes! He was there to guide me,
In the most dire times of need.....

In the darkest hours of my life,
In times of hasty deeds,
I made a silent prayer,
His light was my only need.....

I ask once more in gratefull stance,
How can i repay thee,
For all i need is your friendly glance,
And your faithfull comradrie

A Life not Worth Living

I see the light, it shines so bright,
It shows the visions of my own plight
It makes me think of the life i lived,
And just makes me scream and writhe in guilt

The past is lost and the future's bleak,
I am living my life on the edge; I bleed
It comes too fast; it strikes my heart
I am falling prey to my lowly deeds

There is none to blame; It all links to me
I may just have screwed my one chance to see
Just how good it gets; just how far I leap,
Just how high i fly with my wings of steel

At the end of the day, one quest haunts me
"Where does this lead?" This the voice asks me
I answer it not; i just beg and plead
"Give me time to think; please just listen to me"

In the final stage of my well-wretched life,
I have gained naught more, just some pain and strife,
Oh! I've not lost yet, but I hav'nt yet won,
My fears are confirmed; the War has now begun
